La Jolla Art & Wine Festival: Family Fun That Does Good for San Diego Communities
From its various kid-friendly activities to its impacts on local school programming, the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival is fun for the entire family.
The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival is an annual celebration of creativity, culture, and community that takes over the streets of downtown La Jolla each fall. On Oct. 11 and Oct. 12, the festival will return with expanded family-friendly activities for all to enjoy.
This year’s festival includes an Expanded Family Art & Science Center with a range of different STEAM activities for children of all ages. Activities include:
- Geppetto’s Toys giveaways and prize drawings
- Robotics fun
- Ballet, hip hop, and jazz dancing classes
- Face painting
- Arts and crafts stations
- Visual arts activities and live performances
- Acrobatics, gymnastics, and Parkour
- Mixed-media art activities
- Book readings
Participating family-friendly organizations providing activities at the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival this year include Geppetto’s Toys, the Rosin Box Project, La Jolla Youth Robotics, Living Coast Discovery Center, and more.
Of course, family members don’t just include the two-legged variety. That’s why the festival will also feature a number of pet rescues facilitating adoptions. You might just be able to bring up an adorable new member of your family!
Since 2008, the festival has raised more than $1.5 million to support underfunded arts and science programs at La Jolla schools. Each year, the festival’s contributes impact more than 4,000 students in the San Diego Unified School District with vital enrichment opportunities and access to art, music, science, and technology.
