Don’t Miss Works by CLETUS at Once Upon a Frame in Solana Beach

Once Upon a Frame is set to host the first indoor exhibition of CLETUS, a North County-based graffiti artist turned stencil painted, starting Aug. 23.

If you’re not familiar, Once Upon a Frame is an art gallery and framing shop in Solana Beach. For nearly two decades, the business has been providing full-serving custom framing. Recently, it opened a new gallery space dedicated to bringing both North County artists and residents.

Starting Saturday, Aug. 23, the gallery will host an indoor exhibition of graffiti artist CLETUS, whose studio work is replete with pop culture references and homages to famous artists from Warhol to Lichtenstein.

CLETUS’ day job is as a healthcare provider, and his work is a way to escape the stressful thoughts of his 9 to 5 routine. His work features careful focus of background, composition, and color options, and he includes a heavy dose of comic books, graphic novels, video games, and sci-fi inspiration.

Although the indoor exhibition is the artist’s first, it still features the vibrant energy and colorful design of his outdoor work.

The Works by CLETUS exhibition will kick off with an opening — with live music — from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Once Upon a Frame. The gallery is located at 132 E. Cliff St. in Solana Beach.
