Highest Priced Home Ever Sells in La Jolla
A $35 million property has become the highest priced home ever sold in La Jolla. Here’s what you should know.
The property, which is located 7007 Country Club Drive, sold earlier this month and broke local La Jolla records — including the 2018 sale of the Razor House and Ora House.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the home was purchased by investment group Foxhill Invco Two LLC. It was previously owned by local hotel developer Doug Manchester, who used to own the Union-Tribune.
The expansive property, which combines stunning ocean views with a quiet mountain feel, has four gated entrances, orchards, gardens, a fully equipped gym, an eight-car garage, a greenhouse, staff quarters, a three-hole golf course, and a pool pavilion.
All of that isn’t even including the actual Foxhill Estate home, which spans 23,000 square feet and includes 10 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.
Along with the incredible views, the home also provides access to one of the top golf courses in La Jolla since it’s adjacent to the La Jolla Country Club.
Prior to being owned by Manchester, the home was owned by the Copley family, who previously served as president, owner, and publisher of the Union-Tribune. Although it once hosted lavish dinner parties attended by high society — such as President Richard Nixon — it was not designated as historic.
Because of that, the buyers of the highest priced home ever sold in La Jolla have the go-ahead to redo the property. Reportedly, they plan to divvy it up and turn it into additional luxury homes. Before selling it, Manchester had actually planned to build two or three homes on the land.
