Summer Solstice Eve Sound Bath + Tea Ritual in La Jolla
Looking for one of the most San Diego ways to celebrate the start of summer? Look no further than this summer solstice celebration in La Jolla.
Along with being the official astronomical start of summer, the summer solstice is the longest day and shortest night of the year. This year, the summer solstice happens on Sunday, June 21 — and one La Jolla event is set to celebrate it.
The sunset event will take place in La Jolla Shores at 7 p.m. The event will begin with ocean grounding as attendees are given the opportunity to connect with the coastal environment and sea breeze. After that, the summer solstice celebration will include a botanical tea elixir served and consumed mindfully, a breathwork and body scan meditation, and a sunset sound bath with beautiful crystal bowls.
Once attendees are thorouhgly in a calm, relaxed state, the event will conclude with an opportunity to reflect, ground, and transition into the coming summer season. In other words, it’s a perfect mix of San Diego wellness and beach culture.
“As the longest day of the year approaches, we gather by the ocean to celebrate light, expansion, and presence through sound, breath, and ritual,” the organizers wrote of the event.
Participants should bring a blanket, water bottle, and yoga mat, as well as a journal for reflections and layers for any chilliness the coastal breeze might bring.
Although not included in the event, the setting of the summer solstice celebration will make for a great start to a celebratory La Jolla beach bonfire if you’re lucky or early enough to score a firebit.
