San Diego Doppler Radar Shows Rain, Snow for County
The first storm of 2024 has hit America’s Finest City, with San Diego Doppler radar data showing showers and even snow for the area.
The storm system drenched San Diego County with rain Wednesday morning and was expected to continue dropping precipitation throughout the day with sporadic showers, according to NBC San Diego.
According to the San Diego Doppler radar, the storm first began to hit the North County coastal area with rain just before 8 a.m. Rainfall fell at a rate of a tenth of an inch per hour in many communities across the county.
Although San Diego radar data shows that the bulk of the storm has since moved past the mountains, there are indications that sporadic rain showers could still drench parts of the city into the afternoon.
The storm is also bringing unusually cold air to the region, making snow possible at communities at or above 5,500 feet. In other words, this is a good time to research where to see snow in San Diego County.
Unfortunately, it appears that Julian, California won’t get snow during this storm, but higher elevations like Palomar Mountain and Mount Laguna could likely see some dusting during the storm.
Along with the potential rain and snow as indicated by the San Diego Doppler radar, there is also a wind advisory in effect from 10 am. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday. The National Weather Service is warning residents to prepare for sustained winds up to 30 mph, with possible gusts as high as 55 mph.
If that wasn’t enough weather, the coasts are also seeing a high surf advisory, with potential waves up to 10 feet hitting San Diego beaches well into Thursday.
