San Diego Stingrays Hosting Pro Padel League Match in August

The San Diego Stingrays, a Pro Padel League team local to our area, is set to play their next match in late August.

If you’re unfamiliar with Padel, it’s similar to the booming sport of pickleball and is actually an offshoot of tennis. It originated in Mexico back in the 1960s, and has since expanded to a world stage.

The Pro Padel League is North America’s premier league for the sport of padel. With 10 teams representing cities from Cancun to Toronto to San Diego, the sport brings high-octane racquet sport action to the masses.

The San Diego Stingrays have played two of four regular season events, with a third event scheduled for Aug. 19 through Aug. 23 at the Barnes Tennis Center near Ocean Beach.

Beginning on Aug. 24, Pro Padel League will host semi-finals starting at 3 p.m., while finals will begin at 11 a.m. PST on Aug. 25.

As far as the San Diego Stingrays themselves, the team was one of the first to join PPL. Headquartered at Taktika Padel in San Diego, the Stingrays boast some of the top-ranked padel players on their roster this season, including Marta Morga, Jacobo Blanco, and Louie Harris.

Tickets are available on the PPL website, and include everything from complimentary general admission to reserved seating tickets that start at $40.
