Eat Your Way Around the Globe at The Corner Mercantile & Eatery in La Jolla
La Jolla’s The Corner Mercantile & Eatery is trying out a new approach to give diners an opportunity to try out cuisine from around the world.
The La Jolla Shores staple normally serves up delicious sandwiches, breads, soups, deli items, and more. As evidenced by the name, you’ll also find various grocery items at The Corner Mercantile & Eatery.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, however, the restaurant and store is now looking to expand it delectable food offerings.
This includes a new Tuesday Night Tasting promotion that offers discounted drinks and rolled tacos from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday nights. It features selections from top San Diego breweries and wineries, as well as $2 off other drinks.
The Corner Mercantile & Eatery is also rolling out a new chef dinner each Wednesday evening. The dinner features a rotating menu of cuisine from across the world.
“Experience a weekly global escapade with The Corner’s Wednesday Night Dinners. Each Wednesday, Chef Omar and the team craft a unique and special menu spotlighting a corner of the world,” the restaurant wrote. “From the sizzling flavors of Argentina to the exotic dishes of Tahiti, each themed dinner features a starter, main dish, and dessert.“
For example, the chef dinners have already included unique options like Hungarian, Korean, and Maori cuisine. On Wednesday, March 27, the dinner will be centered on Egyptian food.
The restaurant asks that those interested in attending the worldly chef dinners reserve a spot in advance. You can do so in-person, or by calling the restaurant at 858-246-6294.
