Looking for the newest La Jolla deli? Very soon, you’ll be able to head up the coast to Torrey Pines to visit Gold Finch. This delicatessen plans to open in the late summer of 2022, serving Ashkenazi and Sephardic cooking styles. Not only will they serve bagels, smoked fish, and cured meats, they’ll also have full meals like matzo ball soup, chicken schnitzel, and potato latkes.
For a deli in La Jolla (and the immediately surrounding area), Gold Finch is the first of its kind. They will celebrate Jewish culture in addition to the food. Gold Finch will make festive foods for Jewish holidays such as Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, and Passover. In Southern California, these Jewish foods and traditions are not common like they are in New York.
In addition to the modern coffee menu, Gold Finch will also serve throwback drinks like chocolate phosphates and egg creams. It will be a great place to pick up a bagel and a coffee or have a full lunch. Gold Finch will also offer delivery and take out.
The latest project from the Urban Kitchen Group, Gold Finch was founded by Tracy Borkum to create an authentic deli in La Jolla. Borkum wanted to honor her heritage with a menu partly inspired by her mother, aunt, and grandmother. With such a dedication to the traditions, culture, and food of the Jewish people, there is nothing like Gold Finch.
Gold Finch will be located in The Muse at Torrey Pines, an office complex.
