La Jolla Half Marathon & 5K: The Most Picturesque Race in San Diego
If you’re looking for the most beautiful point-to-point race in San Diego, check out the La Jolla Half Marathon & 5K on Saturday, May 20.
The La Jolla Half Marathon is a unique race that starts at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and follows an Instagram-worthy route along Torrey Pines State Beach and the San Diego coast. It kicks off at 6:30 a.m. on May 20 and ends at 10 a.m.
From there, you’ll face a challenging and rewarding climb to the summit at Torrey Pines State Park. The route then leads runners through La Jolla Shores before ending at La Jolla Cove.
For those wanting a slightly shorter course, there’s also a concurrent La Jolla 5K that starts in La Jolla Shores before ending in La Jolla Cove. It’s mostly a residential course that skips the Torrey Pines summit climb, but it is still incredibly picturesque.
Registration for the Half Marathon starts at $129, while registration for the 5K starts at $59. Those prices increase to $139 and $64 at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, however — so register today.
The race starts at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in Del Mar. You can pick up your race packet from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19.
