31ThirtyOne by Deckman Brings Michelin Star Pedigree to San Diego
A chef known for running several Michelin Starred restaurants in Mexico is opening 31ThirtyOne by Deckman in San Diego.
31ThirtyOne by Deckman is the brainchild of Drew Deckman, a veteran chef whose career has spanned several decades and several continents, according to Eater San Diego. Set to open Wednesday, Aug. 14, the new restaurant is set to be his inaugural location in the U.S.
Born in Georgia, Deckman is well-known for his sprawling restaurant presence in the rich wine country of Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California. For those wanting to sample his cuisine without traveling to Baja, they’ll soon have the chance.
As far as what 31ThirtyOne by Deckman will serve, the eponymous chef calls it “Drew food.” More specifically, it’s a twist on regional cuisines with flavors from the U.S., Mexico, and France. All of it has a local flair, with the chef often sourcing ingredients from local farms and fisherman.
At the restaurant, there will be an exclusive tasting menu, a four-course prix-fixe dinner, and la carte dishes. Don’t get used to a single boring list of dishes, either — the menu will be ever shifting and evolving.
For beverages, 31ThirtyOne by Deckman will feature a strong emphasis on local wines, as well as cocktails crafted by general manager John Prusinovski. The drinks will be served as the restaurant’s on-site bar, as well as a rooftop bar that will also serve oysters and small bites.
The restaurant will be located in San Diego’s hip North Park area, which was recently voted one of the most up-and-coming neighborhoods in the country.
