An’s Dry Cleaning in San Diego is Officially the Best Ice Cream in the US
An’s Dry Cleaning, a local gelato shop in San Diego with an unusual name, has been voted the best ice cream in the U.S.
Although the business sounds like somewhere you’d take a suit to get cleaned, An’s Dry Cleaning is actually a gourmet gelato shop with three locations around San Diego County. And, according to USA Today, it’s best ice cream shop in America.
The unusual name comes from the dry cleaning and tailoring business that it replaced in its original North Park location. To that end, the North Park location has gelato flavors named after fabrics, as well as interior decor modeled after a dry cleaning shop — including ironing board tables.
A second shop in Del Mar is named An’s Hatmakers, and features flavors such as Fedora, and a third shop at Petco Park is dubbed Athletic Field Services and serves up appropriately named flavors such as Clay, Chalk, and Sand.
As far as what you’ll find at An’s Dry Cleaning, the ice cream shop serves up made-from-scratch gelato flavors, including “Velour,” which is salted caramel and chocolate-covered cones, and “Canvas,” which is rosemary and olive oil.
An’s Dry Cleaning wasn’t just voted the best ice cream shop in America — it also happened to be the only one on the West Coast this year. Better yet, if you want to try the best ice cream in the U.S. for a great deal, An’s Dry Cleaning is celebrating its ranking with $1 scoops on July 1 at both of its North Park and Del Mar locations.
The business is also expecting to expand to Ocean Beach in the near future, although an exact theme has yet to be set.
