Carlsbad Flower Fields Are in Full Bloom This March

For many San Diegans, the first bloom of the Carlsbad Flower Fields is the official signal that spring has arrived. That day is now here.
The 55-acre kaleidoscope of colors is a must-see attraction for both locals and visitors alike. It features rows and rows of radiant ranunculus flowers in hues of red, purple, yellow, orange. and white.
With 80 million vibrant blooms stretching as far as the eye can see, the Carlsbad Flower Fields are actually the home of the largest ranunculus flower fields in the world. And it’s just a scenic 30-minute drive from La Jolla.
As with past years that experienced high levels of rainfall, the Carlsbad Flower Fields are expecting a big and vibrant bloom this year. What’s more, the schedule is also packed with a variety of fun events for you and the whole family.

Running from March 1 through Mother’s Day (May 10), the 2026 season is leaning heavily into wellness and immersive experiences, including:
- Fields of Luck 5K: Kick off St. Patrick’s Day weekend by running or walking through the rows before the gates even open to the public.
- Sunset Wellness: From Golden Hour Pilates to Meditation and Sound Healing, the fields offer a tranquil backdrop for finding your zen as the sun dips into the Pacific.
- Creative Workshops: Tap into your inner florist with sessions on Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging), flower crown making, or succulent basket building.
There are also some other new additions, such as the Butterfly Encounter, a serene greenhouse where guests can use nectar sticks to interact with hundreds of exotic butterflies, and the Glass in Flight exhibit with more than two dozen sculptures of birds and insects scattered throughout the bloom.
Tickets are $27 for adults and must be reserved online.
