Celebrate the Winter Solstice in San Diego with Yoga on Coronado

Feeling frazzled this holiday season? Then rest, relax, and decompress with a Winter Solstice Rest & Restore event in San Diego this weekend.

The winter solstice, which takes place on Saturday, Dec. 21 in 2024, is both the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year. In many mindful traditions, such as yoga or meditation, it’s also a time to check in and put intentional effort toward resting and restoring.

To that end, Yoga on Coronado is hosting a Winter Solstice Rest & Restore workshop at their San Diego yoga studio. The event will be led by local yoga teacher Kathleen Pizzello, and promises to be an evening of “connection, reflection, and deep relaxation.”

The winter solstice workshop will include an Earth Altaring Ritual inspired by astrology and emphasizing the wintry themes of renewal, rest, and intention. After that, the workshop will move into a relaxing restorative yoga class, which will conclude with a healing sound bath. Reiki will also be offered during the restorative flow.

Participants will be encouraged to set intentions for the season ahead while connecting to the cycles of life and nature. Additionally, each participant will also take home a handmade candled lovingly crafted by the Sisters Bazaar so they can take their intention home with them.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m. Tickets cost $55, and you can sign up at this link. Yoga on Coronado is located at 176 C Ave Unit 103 in Coronado.
