Foodie Extravaganza (you still have time to go!)

One of the best times to be a foodie in America’s Finest City has arrived. San Diego Restaurant Week 2024 kicks off this weekend. If you didn’t make it during the week, you still have a chance to go! San Diego Restaurant Week is scheduled for Sept. 22 and goes through until Sept. 29. It’s a celebration of the best restaurants in San Diego we hope you experienced, or planning to go before this weekend is up.

Famous Taco Spot Expands to SD

One of the most famous taco shops in Baja California, Tacos El Franc, has announced plans to expand to San Diego County by early next year. Retro Video-Centric Speakeasy Opens

If you’ve ever wanted to relive the pre-Y2K era, you’ll get the chance at a 90s speakeasy in San Diego called Back 2 The Video Store. Back 2 The Video Store is an immersive experience packed to the brim with 1990s nostalgia, and mimicking Blockbuster, in a way. Too Hot to Handle

In case you didn’t notice, there was a tremendous heat wave that unpleasantly blew through our neighborhood earlier this month. Temperatures rose over 100 degrees in September, causing some serious discomfort. Let’s take a look at what went down.

Heat Wave Bakes the County

Around September 5th, that nasty heat wave hit SD county, hiking temps 10 to 20 degrees over the average. Although coastal regions of San Diego were a bit cooler than inland areas, the temperature was unseasonably high over the weekend. Where There’s Smoke

Reports of smoke and ash throughout the county on Sept. 10th prompted local residents to ask if it was a San Diego fire. There were reports of smoke and ash in the San Diego area, particularly in North San Diego County, according to local officials from CalFire. Click here to see what the smoke was all about.

SD’s Finest Stomp Out Restaurant Fire

A fire broke out at an Italian restaurant in La Jolla on Sunday, though firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze. Reportedly, firefighters were able to detect the fire at Marisi La Jolla, located at the intersection of Herschel and Wall in downtown La Jolla, by using a thermal camera. Flood at Westfield UTC

There was a small Westfield UTC mall flood earlier this month as brown water filled some portions of the shopping mall near La Jolla. It’s been handled now, but on Sept. 4th, patrons shopping at the mall Wednesday morning noted water seeping into walkways and shops, with some areas seeing inches of standing brown water. Sea Lion Attack at Mission Beach

Two beachgoers were injured in two separate sea lion attacks in the Mission Beach area of San Diego over this past weekend (Sept. 23rd). La Jolla Home Sells for Mega Millions

A sale of La Jolla Shores residential land has tied for a record of the highest sale price in the neighborhood — $35 million.
