Switchfoot Bro-Am Bringing Surfing, Music and Community to San Diego
The annual Switchfoot Bro-Am is returning to San Diego on Saturday, bringing surfing competitions, live music, and more to one of the best beaches in Encinitas.
Started by the alternative rock band of the same name, the Switchfoot Bro-Am is an annual tradition for the San Diego community. It’s a celebration of local culture — including surfing and music — that also happens to give back to the community.
On Saturday, June 21, the Switchfoot Bro-Am Beach Fest will take over Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, California. From 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., the all-ages event will bring a “tidal wave” of surfing, music, and fun to the North San Diego County city.
For example, Switchfoot itself will be headlining a beachfront concert. Other artists on the ticket include Winnabego, Julianna Zachariou, Angel White, and Gable Price and Friends.
Alongside the music and surf festivities, the Switchfoot Bro-Am will also feature a vibrant marketplace of local vendors, various food and drink options, and other brand activations. Each year, the event also shows off various green initiatives and helps local San Diegans live more sustainably.
Additionally, there will be a range of surf events sponsored by Turtlebox and Barlz. You can take part in the surf competitions yourself, or just watch some of the best surfers in San Diego and beyond shred some waves. Of course, there’s also the ever-popular “surf joust” event each year.
It’s all for a good cause, as well. The festival benefits local and national nonprofit organizations that provide services to unhoused, at-risk, or disadvantaged youth — and all with a special focus on programs related to music, art, or surfing.
