Beachside Belmont Park in Mission Beach Getting Overhaul
Belmont Park in Mission Beach is poised for a major overhaul that could bring a new ride and restaurant to the beachside amusement park.
If you’re unfamiliar, Belmont Park is a century-old amusement park right on the shoreline in Mission Beach. It features a rollercoaster, various dining and beverage options, and other family friend activities and games.
However, Belmont Park’s age means that it’s long overdue for a revamp. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the property is about to embark on a new plan to add rides, reinvent a long-standing restaurant, and update other portions of the park.
Part of the plan is adding a new ship-themed play structure to the existing Shipwreck Cove tower ride. Additionally, the park hopes to add a Disk-O ride that rocks and spins riders and a classic swing carousel, too.
In an effort to broaden its appeal to a wider demographic, Belmont Park is also planning on adding a new indoor-outdoor bar to its existing arcade structure.
Additionally, the team plans to overhaul the Beach House eatery during the Belmont Park renovation. This could include a gutting of the all-outdoor restaurant and replacing most of the sandy area with decorative concrete, as well as a resort-like theme with patios, mini swimming pools, and additional dining spaces.
Although the Belmont Park overhaul still requires some approval from the city and California Coastal Commission, management is hoping to complete the current plans next year and wrap up the redevelopment process by 2026.
In the meantime, Belmont Park is planning its 100-year anniversary, which will take place on July 4, 2025. From live music to photo opportunities, there will be plenty of ways to celebrate the long-standing San Diego attraction!
