‘Surf for a Cure’ at the Legends of Surfing Invitational in La Jolla
San Diego has both a strong surfing culture and a vibrant scientific community, and both come together for the Legends of Science and Surfing event in La Jolla.
The Legends of Science and Surfing is a unique weekend event unlike any other. It involves surfing, sure, but proceeds from the event actually benefit treatment innovation at the Moores Cancer Center at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla.
The next say, Sept. 13, the tradition of combining science and surfing will continue with the Legends of Surfing Invitational. The event features legendary surfers from around the world coming together to take part in a one-of-a-kind event for an amazing cause.
The Legends of Surfing Invitational will take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Scripps Pier in La Jolla. Contestants will vie for a unique trophy and bragging rights.
Of course, an event like this wouldn’t be complete without a celebration, so there will be an after party on Saturday evening at the iconic Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach. The celebration will honor the legacy of this year’s Rell Sunn Honoree, and will include live music, dancing, an auction, and the spirit of camaraderie and giving.
Tickets to the event will go on sale in the coming weeks, and will be available on the UCSD website.
