See Amazing Artists at the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival

If you want the chance to see works from dozens of amazing artists, then the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival needs to be on your list.

The festival is an annual celebration of creativity, whether through amazing works of art or through incredible wines and beers from across the U.S. and beyond. This year, it’s scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 and Sunday, Sept. 29

Art enthusiasts will be able to explore and acquire works from more than 160 artists from the U.S., Mexico, and across the world.

This year’s featured artist is Roy Kerckhoffs, a Dutch photographer and mixed media artist based in North County. He’s renowned for his striking high-contrast photographs, which are hand-tined with pastels, acrylics, and oils.

According to the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival, Kerckhoffs’ work is “a beautiful blend of traditional techniques and contemporary aesthetics, capturing the timeless beauty of weathered coastal scenes, abandoned industrial sites, and historic ghost towns.”

Kerckhoffs isn’t just an artist — he also has a background in science. He was actually a bioengineering scientist at the University of California San Diego, and has been a participant in the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival since 2012.

Along with Kerckhoffs’ amazing photographic masterpieces, the festival will also feature works across a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, fine glass, ceramics, woodwork, mixed media, and more.

Of course, this makes it the perfect event to add to the art lover’s La Jolla itinerary.
