Pepper Lunch: Unique Japanese Fast-Casual Dining Landing in San Diego

Pepper Lunch, a unique and immersive fast-casual dining experience with Japanese roots, is coming to San Diego.

The restaurant franchise — one of the largest in Japan — focuses on providing premium steaks and quality ingredients at an affordable price and with quick service. Although it started in Japan, it now has locations in Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

According to FOX 5 San Diego, Pepper Lunch is now planning on opening five locations throughout San Diego County. However, the exact neighborhoods or regions is not yet known, so the restaurants may end up anywhere from Pacific Beach to North San Diego County.

“With a diverse population, and one which is used to unique, fresh and exciting flavors, we know [San Diego] area residents and guests will enjoy Pepper Lunch,” a brand spokesperson told FOX 5.

Pepper Lunch was first founded in 1994 by Japanese chef and entrepreneur Kunio Ichinose. The menu features a wide range of freshly cooked meats, served up with rice and vegetables.

There are various steak options, from Angus to Hamburg steaks, as well as chicken, shrimp, and tofu. All dishes are served to guests on sizzling plates and topped with classic Japanese sauces and ingredients.

According to the brand, the five locations in North San Diego will open gradually over the next couple of years.
