Solento Surf Festival: 8 Days of Surf-Inspired Music, Art & Film
The annual Solento Surf Festival is returning to Encinitas on Sept. 13 with a week of surfing, art, film, and music.
The Solento Surf Festival is a dynamic weeklong celebration of surfing, and surf-inspired art, music, and film. From Saturday, Sept. 13 to Saturday, Sept. 20, the event will bring a vibrant coastal showcase to Encinitas for the entire San Diego community to enjoy.
This Saturday, the festival kicks off with the Seaside Reef Beach Day. Located at one of the best surf spots in San Diego, the free, all-day event will feature a surf contest with categories for men, women, and groms alongside a friendly firefighter versus lifeguard wave battle. There will also be food, live music, and vendors.
On Sept. 16, the Four Moons Spa will host a free art exhibit with showcases of surf-inspired creativity — including everything from paintings to mixed media. There will also be live music, food, and drink.
From Sept. 18 through Sept. 20, the Solento Surf Festival will host its capstone Film Festival at La Paloma Theatre. Attendees can expect an engaging schedule of surf films and thought-provoking panel discussions with both directors and athletes.
Highlights include films like “Snakes and Surf Break,” “September Sessions,” and “SNAPT5: The Final Cut.” Surfing legends like Kelly Slater and Rob Machado will also make an appearance.
The event is a perfect mix for surf lovers, art enthusiasts, and culture seekers alike. Whether you’re riding waves, admiring artwork, or catching thought-provoking films, the Solento Surf Festival will deliver plenty of good vibes and community spirit to Encinitas.
As mentioned, the beach day and art show are free to attend, but tickets are required for the film screenings and panel discussions. You can RSVP for the free events and purchase tickets for the Film Festival at this link.
