Close Summer with a Groundswell Community Surf Session & Breakfast
If you’d like a thoroughly San Diego way to close out the summer season, don’t miss the Groundswell community surf event and breakfast this weekend.
The event, which will take place 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21 at The Point, will feature a morning of waves, gratitude, and grounding as local nonprofit Groundswell closes out the summer season. Groundswell is a community project aimed at using the transformative powers of surf therapy and the ocean to provide healing experiences for women and gender-diverse individuals.
From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., San Diego surfers can take part in a community paddle-out. From there, the event will include a community breakfast and guided reflection circle that participants can use to reflect on the summer season — and everything that Groundswell has accomplished this year.
The community paddle-out is optional, but participants should bring their own surfboard. If you’re only attending for the reflection circle and breakfast, organizers say to bring a beach blanket or chair, a water bottle, and an open heart and mind.
Not only is the Groundswell Community Surf event a celebration of the changing seasons and a transformative experience centered on the energy of the new moon, but it’s also a time to celebrate the people who make Groundswell’s work possible.
