Foodie’s Dream Night Market Returning to San Diego This Month

A popular night market and foodie event dubbed Foodieland will return to San Diego for one weekend in July. Here’s what you need to know.

Foodieland is a multicultural event that will feature more than 190 different vendors, food booths, and more. Along with enough food to entice any foodie, the event also has entertainment, games, and crafts for purchase.

The event — which can trace its roots back to Berkeley, California — takes its inspiration from the famous open-air food markets seen across parts of Asia.

Along Foodieland started in Berkeley, it now hosts festivals across the United States, including in San Diego. The event will take place at Snapdragon Stadium — home of San Diego football team the SDSU Aztecs.

This isn’t the first time that Foodieland has held an event in the San Diego area. Last year, the summertime night market took place in Del Mar. Now, the location is a bit closer to downtown San Diego and the Gaslamp Quarter.

As far as what time of cuisine you can expect, there will be everything from classic Mexican food to Nashville Hot Chicken and Korean Corn Dogs. Other options include cheesy fries, mochi donuts, Filipino Shortbread Cookies, Shrimp Po Boys, and a whole lot more.

If you’d like to attend Foodieland and eat delicious food to your heart’s content, you’ll need to plan ahead. Although tickets for Foodieland only cost $6 a piece, you won’t be able to buy them at the door. Instead, purchase them online beforehand.

The organizers advise that you wear comfortable shoes and bring cash, since some of the food booths and vendors operate on a cash-only basis.

Foodieland San Diego 2023 is slated for Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23. On Friday, it’ll be open from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, it’ll be open from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
