Legendary Restaurant Nobu is Coming to the Hotel Del Coronado
One of the most famous Japanese restaurants in the world, Nobu, is officially opening a new beachfront location at the Hotel del Coronado.
Nobu is a global brand of Japanese restaurants that first started in New York City. Since then, the company has expanded to more than 50 branches across the globe, including one location at the Hard Rock Hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter.
The opening of Nobu at the Coronado location is all part of a $550 million Hotel del Coronado expansion that will see the legendary hotel property play host to one of the most beloved Japanese restaurants.
According to Eater San Diego, the Nobu Hotel del Coronado location will replace the beachfront Sheerwater restaurant at the hotel. It is expected to open early next year, and will include 3,700 square feet of both indoor and outdoor dining space, as well as a pagoda bar and a sushi counter.
As far as the menu, Nobu is renowned for its chef crafted sushi and sashimi options, ranging from classics like yellowtail and salmon to more exotic options like Live Fluke, Japanese Mackerel, and Japanese Red Snapper.
Beyond sushi, Nobu also has a range of other delicious seafood options like Japanese Red Snapper Sashimi, creamy spicy crab, and the iconic black miso cod and yellowtail jalapeño. There are also starters like truffled edamame and nobu-style tacos.
According to Eater, new Nobu location will also have dishes that are exclusive to the Coronado location, though there’s currently no word on what those dishes could include or what they might be called.
The Hotel del Coronado is currently going through a massive overhaul that includes new bars and smokehouses, alongside other renovations. It isn’t clear how the Hotel del location will affect the existing Nobu in San Diego.
