41st Annual Oceanside Longboard Surf Contest & Beach Festival Returns August 7

Fans of sun, sand, and surf, get ready. The 41st annual Oceanside Longboard Surf Contest is returning to North San Diego County in August.

Scheduled for Friday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 9, the event is hosted by the Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club (OLSC), a local nonprofit dedicated to preserving both coastal environments and San Diego’s surfing heritage. It will take place at the iconic Oceanside Pier.

The beloved annual tradition brings together top-tier longboarders from across the U.S., as well as local families and San Diego beachgoers for three days of high-caliber surfing on some of the best beaches in the country.

For 2026, key highlights in the Longboard Surf Contest include:

  • King & Queen of the Pier: This Pro/Am Invitational kicks off the contest on Friday and sees world-class longboard surfers go head-to-head. Prizes include both handcrafted trophies and a $5,000 cash prize in each division.
  • Coalition of Surfing Clubs Competition: On Saturday and Sunday, surfers from across the world will hit the waves in Oceanside to represent their clubs in this fierce and friendly competition.
  • Beach Festival & Live Music: The adjacent Oceanside Pier bandshell will feature live music performances, vendors selling unique hand-crafted gear, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment.
  • Custom Surfboard Raffle: Attendees will also get the opportunity to win a custom, hand-shaped Annihilator Surfboard by Michael Takayama, with proceeds supporting OLSC.

Interested surfers can sign up or learn more on the surf club’s website. For spectators, admission is completely free.
