North Park in San Diego Among America’s Most ‘Up and Coming’ Neighborhoods
North Park in San Diego was voted one of the most “up and coming” neighborhoods in the entire country, according to a new study.
TravelMag recently carried out research to determine what the “most appealing” neighborhoods in the U.S. were based on a variety of metrics. As such, they looked at 16 neighborhoods in major U.S. metropolitan areas, and then graded them on specific criteria.
Some of those metrics included the abundance of hip cocktail bars, fancy coffee shops, trendy eateries, vegan restaurants, eclectic boutiques, and LGBTQIA-friendly businesses. Locals will not be surprised then that North Park was rated the most hip neighborhood in San Diego.
“As much a place for families as it is for singles, this San Diego parcel offers an eclectic mix of restaurants, coffee houses, boutiques, and bars,” TravelMag wrote of North Park — which, true to its name, is located just north of Balboa Park.
The publication called out specific businesses or points of interest there too, such as the many murals that are located throughout the area, local indie music venue The Observatory, and Verbatim Books, which ranks as one of the best used book stores in San Diego.
Although San Diego has many culinary hotspots, the hip and eclectic neighborhood is known for interesting or otherwise unique restaurants, such as a recently opened, immersive Middle Eastern dining experience named Leila.
If you’d like to visit America’s Finest City and check out North Park, then make sure to add the Lafayette Hotel to your potential list of accommodations, as it was recently voted Hotel of The Year.
