La Jolla Christmas Party & Parade Bringing Holiday Cheer This Weekend

Kick off the holiday season in the jewel of San Diego at the 68th annual La Jolla Christmas Parade & Holiday Festival.

This year, the parade kicks off at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the intersection of Kline and Girard in downtown La Jolla. The parade will feature everything from vintage automobiles to traditional floats with full bands playing, so it’s the perfect way to celebrate the holidays in San Diego.

The La Jolla Christmas Parade has been a holiday tradition in San Diego for more than six decades. This year marks the 68th annual parade, and it carries the theme of “palm trees and poinsettias,” two plants that really capture a California Christmas.

Along with the La Jolla Christmas Parade, there will also be a holiday festival — nicknamed Santa’s Village — that will feature games, music, face-painting, arts-and-crafts, and visits with Santa Claus himself.

The Holiday Village opens to the public at 11:30 a.m. and is scheduled to run through 4 p.m. Visits with Santa will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Do note that parking will be extremely limited on Sunday, Dec. 8, and many streets will become two-away zones starting at 9:30 a.m. However, if you do manage to nab a spot in a safe parking place, you’ll be close enough to the many shops in downtown La Jolla, which feature some of the best holiday shopping in San Diego.
