Camp Shred, World’s Largest Surf Demo, Happening in Early March

The Camp Shred Surf Festival, which is the world’s largest surf demo, is coming to Encinitas on March 1 and 2.

Camp Shred is a celebration of all things surfing. It brings together surf fans, surfing brands, and others in a fun, festival-like atmosphere at the San Elijo Campgrounds in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. That means the festival is within striking distance of some top San Diego surf spots.

Not only is Camp Shred a great place to connect with like-minded surfers, it’s also the only place in the world where attendees can both interact with their favorite surf brands — and try out their products.

Some of the 50 top surf brands scheduled to be in attendance include Stewart Surfboards, Lovelace Surfboards, DaKine, Rip Curl, O’Neill, and Future Fins. Along with surf companies, there will also be an assortment of overland and van gear makers.

Along with the surf demos, the festival will also feature a beer garden with cold beverages, a variety of food trucks, and a live music stage.

Free surf demos will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2. Demos close at 4 p.m. on Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The event, including beer garden, closes at sunset.

Camp Shred is completely free for the public to attend. If you’d like to brush up on your skills before testing out new gear, check out our guide to the top surf lessons in San Diego.
