Here’s Why Desserts by Clément Should Be Your Next Stop in PB
A renowned French pastry chef has opened an outpost for cakes, pastries, and other delicious delicacies in PB.
Owner Clément Le Déoré started baking professionally at the age of 15. Originally from Brittany, France, he trained with some of the best pastry chefs across the world, including in Australia and Corsica.
Seven years ago, Le Déoré moved to San Diego and worked at local chain Le Parfait Paris before starting his own catering business providing delicious pastries to clients like the Hotel Del Coronado.
Now, Le Déoré has opened a new spot called Desserts by Clément on Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. That spot is only the first of an expanding French pastry empire, with plans to open an additional location per year going forward, according to Eater.
If the name “Le Déoré” sounds familiar, it’s because the veteran pastry chef was in the most recent season of Spring Baking Championship on the Food Network.
The specialty at Desserts by Clément is petit gateaux, which are small desserts that feature layers of jelly and mousse topping a biscuit base. However, Le Déoré also has expertise in making macarons, cakes, croissants, and more.
Although you might only expect desserts at Desserts by Clément, the menu also features savory options such as quiches and croissant sandwiches. In the future, the restaurant will offer crepes and afternoon tea service — and Le Déoré is considering eventually opening a full French cuisine restaurant, too.
In the meantime, Desserts by Clément will continue to offer cafe delights through the summer before eventually expanding into dinner service with additional options.
The cafe and bakery is located at 1380 Garnet Ave in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood. It is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except for Monday, when the restaurant is closed.
