This San Diego Dog Park Has Been Voted the Best in the USA
A local San Diego dog park has been voted the best in the entire country by readers of USA Today. Here’s the park that got top marks.
San Diego is known for being a dog-friendly city, and there’s no shortage of amazing dog parks, beaches, and off-leash areas for owners of furry friends. However, USA Today just declared one San Diego dog park as the “Best Dog Park” in the USA.
Fiesta Island Dog Park, which is located in Mission Bay Park, took the top spot in the 2024 USA Today travel awards. The park features a fenced, 90-acre dog park, as well as sandy beaches, calm waters, and bonfire pits for hanging out with your pooch.
FIDO, a local nonprofit organization that played a huge role in involving community members in the dog park, celebrated the decision last week.
“It’s a wonderful recognition of the hard work and passion that the community and volunteers have poured into making the park a true paradise for dogs and their owners,” said FIDO Board Member Kathy Parrish. “This honor will further inspire us to continue our efforts in maintaining and improving this cherished space.”
Along with the expansive off-leash area, Fiesta Island also features scenic walking trails and ample parking spaces, making it a perfect spot for a day at the beach with your four-legged family member.
Fiesta Island isn’t the only pooch paradise in San Diego, which has a long history of being a paw-fect place for being a pet owner. In fact, Ocean Beach Dog Beach is known to have been the first off-leash dog beach in the U.S.
