Harrah’s Resort Southern California Getting a $24 Million Refresh
The oldest hotel rooms at Harrah’s Resort Southern California are getting a makeover that will cost the casino and resort $24 million.
If you’re unfamiliar, Harrah’s Resort Southern California is a casino and hotel located in Valley Center, California — about a 45-minute drive from downtown San Diego. It also happens to be one of the best San Diego casino hotels in the county.
Some of the very first guest rooms built at the casino, located in the Dive Inn Tower, are now slated to undergo a $24 million makeover that will transform them into a Southern California beach oasis, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Dive Inn Tower rooms are situated around the casino’s multiple pools, which include a swim-up bar, a lazy river, a larger pool with a volleyball net, and multiple smaller hot tubs throughout the area. The pool area also hosts live music and other festivities during the summer.
Renovations on the rooms started in October, and are expected to wrap up by summer 2024. All of the rooms in the Dive Inn Tower will remain closed while the construction is underway, though the resort has 884 more rooms to accommodate guests.
As far as what the renovations will entail, each room is being completely gutted and overhauled. The color scheme will include bright blues and creamy beige tones, and even the striped blue carpet in each room will reflect the best beaches in San Diego.
The bathrooms will also be redone to fit larger and more modern showers, and larger 55-inch televisions are also being installed in each room.
By the time that the renovations are completed, Harrah’s Resort Southern California will also get two new restaurants. One of them will be Corner Counter, which will serve up Italian cuisine like pizzas, sandwiches, and gelato. A quick-service chicken restaurant, Best of Cluck, will anchor the other side of the resort.
