Changemaker Speaker Series at The Conrad to Highlight Incredible Trailblazers
The La Jolla Music Society is partnering with Changemaker on a new Speaker Series that will highlight people with incredible stories to tell.
If you’re not familiar with the Changemaker Speaker Series, it’s a touring program of celebrated explorers, trailblazers, journalists, artists, and more. Not only do these changemakers have amazing stories to tell — they’re also all laser-focused on creating a better tomorrow for us all.
The La Jolla Music Society will host a Changemaker Speaker Series featuring some amazing changemakers this winter at The Conrad in downtown La Jolla, starting with a talk by a second-generation Mt. Everest climber in January 2024.
Here’s just a sample of the talks you can expect:
Peter Hillary — “70 Years of Everest.”
Scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18.
This talk will feature Peter Hillary speaking about becoming the first second-generation summiteer to reach the top of Mount Everest — and how it inspired a lifetime of philanthropy.
Andy Mann — “Making Waves: Summit to Sea”
Scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
For the last 10 year, Andy Mann has traveled the seven seas to showcase — through beautiful photography and filmmaking — the interconnectedness of our planet. Hear about his passion for storytelling and protecting the oceans.
Terry Virts — “How to Astronaut”
Scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.
Terry Virts is a man who accomplished nearly everything he ever dreamed about. From serving as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air force to piloting the Space Shuttle Endeavour to becoming commander of the International Space Station. Throughout his adventures, he took hours of videos and thousands of photographs, which have ended up in a beautiful IMAX film dubbed “A Beautiful Planet” and a book called “Views from Above” featuring some of the best images.

Each of the amazing talks in the La Jolla Music Society’s Changemaker Speaker Series will take place in the beautiful The Baker-Baum Concert Hall. Each talk will include thrilling photos and videos on the big screen.
