Sessions Surf Festival to Return to North San Diego County Sept. 12–19
The Sessions Surf Festival, a weeklong celebration of a past-time near and dear to San Diego County, returns to Encinitas and Solana Beach next month.
If the name doesn’t sound familiar, it’s because the Sessions Surf Festival is a reimagining of the event previously dubbed the Solento Surf Festival. Despite the name change, the festival is a full week of events dedicated to surfing and the community surrounding it.
The event will feature a packed schedule that includes community beach gatherings, music and entertainment performances, art showings, film premieres, and more. A schedule is available below:
- Opening Day: A day of live music overlooking the iconic surf break at Seaside Reef from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12. Artists include Unwritten Law, Bully, Yoke Lore, MT Warning, Jack Shields and the Mojave Rush, and Emily Afton.
- Beach Day: A free and open-to-the-public event that includes a surf competition, live music and entertainment, food and drinks.
- Film Sessions: Scheduled for Sept. 17 through Sept. 19 at La Paloma Theatre, the Sessions Surf Festival will feature premieres, panel discussions, filmmaker conversations, and special events curated by filmmaker Taylor Steele.
- Art Sessions: Expanding on its previous iterations, the festival will now feature a full week of art programming at the Outerknown Pop-Up, which will serve as a creative hub showcasing work from 10 artists while also providing live music, refreshments, and community gatherings.
