Spooky Season is Here: Check Out These 5 Halloween Events in San Diego & La Jolla

The season of spooks and frights is finally upon us. If you’re looking for Halloween events in La Jolla and San Diego, we have a curated list of some of the best — from family-friendly trick-or-treating to genuine scares.

  • Creepy Candy Crawl: On Oct. 31, local merchants in downtown La Jolla will host the annual Creepy Candy Crawl. Along with spooky creatures roaming the streets and plenty of candy to go around, the event will also feature an afternoon costume contest with multiple chances to win prizes.   • Halloween Aglow: This limited-run evening event at the Birch Aquarium adds a scientific twist to Halloween with glowing marine life and ocean-themed activities. It’s a perfect mix of education and coastal spooky vibes for curious kids, and is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 23 and Saturday, Oct. 24.
  • The Haunted Trail: For folks looking for more of a thrill, the locally famous Haunted Trail at Balboa Park is sure to give serious scares. The mile-long maze is positively packed with frights. As such, it’s strictly for teens and adults who want a genuine thrill.
  • HalGLOWeen at the San Diego Zoo: During the month of October, the San Diego Zoo will transform after dark into a glowing wonderland filled with musical performances, acrobatics, and neon hula-hoop dance parties. Kids 11 and under get in free all month long.
