SoCal Taco Fest Brings Tacos, Beer & More to San Diego

If you want to try some of the best tacos in San Diego, then head on down to the SoCal Taco Fest at Waterfront Park this weekend.

SoCal Taco Fest will kick off at noon on Saturday, Aug. 17 and run through 10 p.m. Along with a selection of some of the best tacos in the region, there will also be other food and drinks, Lucha Libre, chihuahua races, and more.

Tacos are the big draw here, and there will be more than 20 taco trucks represented at the festival. Standout options include TJ Tacos, Tacos Before Vatos, and Barra Cruda. Along with taco stands, there will also be a culinary stage with cooking demos.

Musical acts will include Smash Mouth, Vanilla Ice, Los Amogis Invisibles, Viejo Lowbo, DJ Niayuku, and the JRoy Dub Trio. For the first time in SoCal Taco Fest history, there will also be a karaoke stage for all those late night singers to show off their skills.

If all of that wasn’t enough, the SoCal Taco Fest will also feature a “guac off,” a Best Dressed section sponsored by Goodwill San Diego County, a Michelada Plaza, and a Margarita Cantina.

For tickets and other information, check out the festival website.

The festival will take place at Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego. If you’re in the mood for other Mexican food, check out our guide to the city’s best Mexican restaurants. Still have tacos on the mind? We’ve got you covered with a guide on where to go for Taco Tuesday in La Jolla.
