Hurricane Polo, a category 5 storm roiling off the coast of Mexico, will bring large waves and dangerous ocean conditions to San Diego beaches early next week. According to the National Hurricane Center, the storm will reach the southern tip of Baja California by Sunday.

A high tide that could reach 7 feet and large swells are expected to peak on Monday and last through Tuesday, especially at southern-facing beaches, the NHC reported. Along with producing life-threatening surf and rip currents, the storm’s effects may also cause more coastal erosion and the possibility of coastal flooding, too.
