Celebrate Creativity at the La Jolla Community Arts Open House
Celebrate all things art, creativity, and culture at the La Jolla Community Arts Open House on May 11 at The Conrad.
From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, the La Jolla Music Society will be hosting an event drawing art students and art enthusiasts from across San Diego County to the organization’s beautiful venue in downtown La Jolla.
The family-friendly community event, which is themed “Create!” this year, will feature free performance, classes, activities, crafts, and art from some of San Diego’s finest dancers, artists, and musicians.
For example, there will performances by harpist Chiara Capobianco and the Euphoria Brass Band, as well as youth ensembles like:
- Mission Bay Mambo Orchestra
- Poway High School
- San Diego State University Jazz Trio
- Correia Middle School
- Pershing Middle School
- La Jolla Music Society Community Music Center
Attendees will also get a chance to create their own music at an interactive drum circle with with Drummers Without Borders and dance to their own rhythm at a hop dance class with Alyssa Junious or a dance workshop with Malashock Dance.
Additionally, there will be arts and crafts classes and activities organized by Studio ACE, Elizabeth Tobias, and others.
Although the La Jolla Community Arts Open House is an annual event, this year it will feature an exhibit of artwork by the students of La Jolla High School’s advanced arts programs upstairs at the Hoehn Gallery.
The event is completely free to attend, but the La Jolla Music Society recommends advance registration, which you can do so on TheConrad.org.
