Marisi to Host an Elegant ‘Friends of James Beard Dinner’ in La Jolla

La Jolla Italian restaurant Marisi will host a Friends of James Beard Benefit dinner in March, with proceeds benefitting a related nonprofit.

The James Beard Foundation is a national nonprofit that supports and advocates for those in the food industry in the U.S. Individual restaurants and chefs can host high-profile benefit dinners to support the Foundation — and, of course, serve up delicious food.

To that end, Marisi in La Jolla, which opened in 2022, will host a Friends of James Beard Benefit dinner on Wednesday, March 20.

The dinner menu will be curated by Cameron Ingle, who Marisi tapped last fall to lead the kitchen’s culinary direction. The dinner’s theme is “Celebrating Spring — Italy to San Diego.”

“We are honored to be hosted for a special evening, celebrating the essence of spring, the Southern California bounty, and Italian style,” the restaurant wrote of the event.

Ingle will serve as executive chef on the dinner and will be supported by a beverage menu curated by Wine Director Christopher Plaia and Vice President of Bar and Spirits Beau du Bois.

Though there’s no word on the menu, the event will feature a cocktail reception and a five-course meal directed by Ingle. Since Marisi was voted one of the best new restaurants in all of San Diego, you can rest assured that it’ll be an exceptional dinner.

As mentioned earlier, a portion of the proceeds from the dinner will support critical funding for James Beard Foundation programming, as well as its broader mission of standardizing “Good Food for Good” — anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability.

All in all, it’ll be a great event with a good cause at one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego County.

Guests must be 21 years old to attend. Tickets are available starting at $350 on the James Beard website.
