Marine Biologist Jess Cramp to Tell ‘The Untold Story of Sharks’ at The Conrad
The untold story of sharks is a fascinating tale for any ocean lover, and on April 24, marine biologist Dr. Jess Cramp will come to La Jolla to tell it.
Whether you’re an avid surfer, a casual beach-goer, or just someone that loves and appreciates the ocean, peacefully coexisting with sharks is part of life in the waters around Southern California. However, there are many myths about great white sharks in San Diego and beyond — and many people fear sharks despite the crucial role they play in a healthy ocean.
Luckily, marine biologist and shark researcher Dr. Jess Cramp is coming to The Conrad to set the record straight. Presented by the La Jolla Music Society, Dr. Cramp will be presenting a new talk that seems to “change the old narratives of these graceful icons.”
The marine biologist will be into great detail about sharks, which have been swimming in the ocean since before the dinosaurs. She will tap into the National Geographic archive to tell the stories of amazing women who led shark science, setting the stage for her own cutting-edge conservation work and research.
According to the La Jolla Music Society, the talk will allow participants to “swim alongside her under the vibrant waters of the South Pacific to find out what it truly means to save sharks.”
The Untold Story of Sharks talk is being presented by the La Jolla Music Society as part of its Speaker Series. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 24 in the Baker-Baum Concert Hall. Tickets start at $30.50, and are available here.
