PBRC Beach Party: Trade Asphalt for Sand at This Free Community Event on Aug. 29

The Pacific Beach Run Club is trading asphalt for sand this weekend as it prepares to host its annual PBRC Community Beach Party.

If you’re not familiar, the Pacific Beach Run Club (PBRC) is a social club known for organizing weekly 5K runs in Pacific Beach. A thoroughly non-competitive organization, PBRC says its events are more focused on making friends who love to run than beating any sort of records.

Once a year, however, the run club hosts a community beach party that’s completely free and open to everyone to attend. Taking place after the run club’s typical Saturday 5K slot, the event is a great way for runners and non-runners alike to beat the heat — especially as San Diego temperatures are expected to be sky-high.

This year, the 4th annual PBRC Beach Party is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 29. Attendees are asked to meet at Lifeguard Tower 22 in Pacific Beach, near Santa Rita Pl. There will be free Sun Bum sunscreen for the first 50 attendees, free drinks and snacks from partner organizations, raffles every hour, and both volleyball and spikeball.

While the party is open to run club and community members alike, the organizers ask that attendees RSVP on this site beforehand so the club knows how much food and drinks to prepare.
