Federal agents investigating sea lion harassment

Federal officials from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Law Enforcement are investigating reports of a video that allegedly shows an individual kicking a sea lion, reports state.

While an iconic part of La Jolla’s coastline, the sea lions at La Jolla Cove are federally protected, and both local and federal officials urge residents to give them plenty of space.

San Diego Brew Festival returns to Liberty Station

The 15th annual San Diego Brew Festival returns to Liberty Station on Saturday, Aug. 8, bringing more than 70 breweries, 200 beers, live entertainment and games, and some of San Diego’s best food trucks to NTC Park. This year, the event is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m., with tickets starting at $50.

Encinitas local takes home trophy in U.S. Open of Surfing

For the second year in a row, a San Diego local has claimed the trophy in the World Surf League’s U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach. On Aug. 2, Jake Marshall, 27, of Encinitas, California took home the gold after besting Kanoa Igarashi on Sunday’s men’s final. This is the second win from an Encinitas local after Levi Slawson claimed victory last year.

La Jolla First Friday Art Walk

If you’re looking for something to do in downtown La Jolla, the August First Friday Art Walk is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7. Enjoy light refreshments, live entertainment, and a leisurely stroll around some of La Jolla’s best spots for art lovers.
